Get fresh air while exercising

There are many opportunities to get your body moving outdoors. This is especially important when training in gyms and sports clubs etc. is put on standby in connection with the corona crisis. If you are not used to exercising outdoors, it requires that you find out what suits your everyday life and physical shape as well as what you think is fun. Here are some suggestions on how to get moving in the fresh air:

Cycling tours

There are many great options for how to get exercise on the iron horse - both some quiet, family-friendly rides and some more action-packed ones. You can cover a lot of ground quickly by bike and often you won't save much time by taking the car. Use your bike as a means of transportation to and from work. That adds up to a lot of kilometers every week! Take your bike to meet up with friends or to do your chores. You can also go cycling at the weekend. Plan a cycling route or a place you'd like to cycle to.
If you're looking for a little more speed, take a high-speed road trip on your road bike. Or take your mountain bike and go exploring in the woods.

On foot

On foot you can see the beautiful nature that cannot be reached by car. Walk along lakes, across fields and through forests. You can quickly get a lot of steps in your legs if you walk regularly. Of course, you can also pick up the pace and improve your fitness by going for walks. If you want to keep track of how far you walk in a day, it's a good idea to use a pedometer around your wrist or as an app. Set a goal of reaching the well-known 10,000 steps a day or set a goal that is, for example, 1500 steps higher than what you usually walk in a day. There are a lot of marked routes for different distances, marked with small signs, which you can follow whether you want to go for a brisk walk or if you have jumped into your running clothes. For example, you can check if there are any clover trails in your local area, which are trails of 2.5 km, 5 km, 7.5 km and 10 km. The Danish Heart Foundation has also marked 207 heart trails throughout Denmark.

Training in the open air

Of course, there is also the option of moving bodyweight-based fitness exercises outside. Move some of the exercises you are used to doing in the gym to the garden or take some breaks in your running training to do squats. For example, if you're out in the woods, you might find a large rock you can use to add weight to your squats or there might be a bench that you can do push-ups on.

On water

Have you ever tried canoeing or kayaking? If not, it's something you should put on your to-do list. Rent a canoe or kayak this summer and bring your roommate or partner along. You'll get a lot of fresh air, great experiences on the water and new sporting challenges.
