Healthy workplace culture

Workplace culture is often entrenched and it can be difficult to make room for new habits. Culture has a big impact on how easy or difficult it is to establish healthy initiatives. In order to have good conditions for a successful workplace health initiative, it is important that the workplace culture allows for diversity, openness and recognition. If this is the case, more employees are more likely to feel comfortable participating in health initiatives. Regardless of current health status, there must be room for all employees to participate and improve their health.

Open dialog is important to create a healthy work culture

To create a good workplace culture, it is important to be open and to engage in a dialog with colleagues about how you want the workplace culture to be. Some questions that can be obvious to discuss are:

- What are the do's and don'ts?
- What is the community like?
- Which health promotion measures are appropriate for our workplace?
- How can we bring more health into the working day?
- How do we motivate each other?
- Is there anything we can improve in our workplace culture?

Sun work culture is created together

By engaging in a dialog and putting into words how you experience the culture in your workplace, you will gain greater insight into where you are now and where you want to go. Improving workplace culture also promotes the joy of going to work, improves the service we have to deliver and creates a forum for how to make room for health.
A good workplace culture doesn't happen by itself - it's something you create together.
