Get more energy

For many people, getting off the couch to go to the gym is a challenge. A long working day is often an excuse for not having more energy left over to exercise. However, if you exercise regularly, you will find that you are energized by spending energy on exercise. This new energy gives you more energy throughout the day. When you are physically active, a number of different substances such as serotonin, endorphins and dopamine trigger a feeling of happiness and well-being. The things you previously didn't have the energy for will seem much more manageable after you start exercising, as you don't have the same dull and tired feeling in your body. After a hard day at work, it can be tempting to throw your legs up on the couch as a reward for your efforts, but in reality, your body will get a greater reward if it is allowed to move.

Exercise together benefits both physical and mental health

Not everyone knows that good relationships and friendships are factors that influence our health. According to Bente Klarlund, a professor of medicine and researcher at Rigshospitalet on physical activity as a disease treatment, people with strong relationships get sick less than people who lack these relationships. This means that being part of a community has an impact not only on your mental well-being, but also on your physical health. The risk of getting sick, for example with a cold or a lifestyle disease, decreases when you are physically active on a regular basis. Among other things, your body becomes better at absorbing sugar, your metabolism improves, your sleep improves, and you improve your fitness and strength, which has a positive impact on reducing the risk of injury.

Maintaining a good habit

In addition, people who exercise with friends or as part of a community or team are less likely to drop out. The reason for this may be that they feel more committed, as non-participation also affects the others in the community. Furthermore, for many people, being involved in an activity together is motivating and creates joy. So it's always a good idea to entice a friend to join you in your sport, or to find a new form of exercise that you would like to do together. You can hold each other up to the agreement you have and can be social while doing something good for your body and mind.
