We all hunger for a life with a good work-life balance. A good work-life balance creates greater well-being and energy in one's everyday life. However, the reality is quite different for many with busy and pressured working days, where you can neither find the energy nor time for other interests when the working day is over. Studies show that long and pressurized working days are associated with a worsened work-life balance, and that it can therefore be difficult to reconcile private and professional life. This can have consequences for both your personal and professional life and, in the worst case, can affect your psychological well-being, leading to stress or other illnesses.

Good work-life balance improves well-being

This is often associated with less good work-life balance. Studies show that working longer hours does not necessarily make you more productive. Therefore, it is important that you create an overview of the time you spend at work and prioritize which tasks are most important. When you have found and created a good work-life balance, it leads to better well-being and more energy in everyday life.

Ways to create more work-life balance:

  • Take an overview of your day and prioritize what you need to put your energy into and what can wait or be discarded.
  • Don't cut back on interests and hobbies, as they provide renewed energy and pleasure.
  • Realize that not all tasks can always be achieved. It is important to avoid getting worn out. Know your limits, as not everything can always be achieved. Therefore, being able to opt in and out in your professional life can be a strength, just like in your private life.
  • Do yourself a favor and take a break after a busy period. Just as our body needs to recover, so does our brain.
