Keep your employees spring-ready

Spring is on its way and it's the perfect time to give your workplace a refresh. Besides cleaning and organizing, you can also improve your work environment by focusing on ergonomics. Here are some simple but effective tips to make your workplace more comfortable and healthier.

1. Adjust your chair, desk and use support:

One of the most basic, but often overlooked, ergonomic factors is the chair and desk. Make sure the chair supports your lower back and is height adjustable so your feet can rest flat on the floor. Your desk should be at a height that allows your elbows to form a 90-degree angle when typing. Consider adding a pillow or lumbar support to your chair to maintain the natural curve of your spine. This can help reduce pressure on your back and reduce the risk of pain and tension.

2. Change your working position:

Variation in posture is key to good ergonomics. Most people are familiar with sit-stand desks and they can allow you to change position and reduce strain on your back and neck. However, many people forget to use them, so use a timer or something else to make sure you're moving. Additionally, make use of short breaks to stretch or walk around to prevent stiffness, and don't forget "The next position is the best position".

3. Optimize your screen position:

Place your computer screen at eye level and about an arm's length away. This helps reduce strain on your neck and eyes. If necessary, use a monitor stand or something else to raise the monitor to the correct height. Read more about the ergonomics of your desk here.

4. Optimize your workspace:

Keep your workspace clean and organized. Not only does this make it easier to find things, but it also creates a more comfortable workplace. Use cord concealers and storage solutions to minimize clutter and improve the workspace.
Of course, it's also a good idea to ensure a good indoor climate by airing out and maybe even bringing in some sunlight.

5. Take breaks, stretch and use exercises:

Even if you have an ergonomically correct workplace, it's important to take short breaks. Use these breaks to stretch, take a walk or do exercises to prevent stiffness and improve blood circulation. This can be done by making use of break workouts during the workday.

6. invest in ergonomic measures:

If possible, consider investing in ergonomic aids such as an ergonomic chair, mouse and keyboard. These products are designed with comfort and health in mind. Spring can be a time for renewal, and by implementing these ergonomic tips, you can create a work environment that promotes wellbeing and productivity. Spring clean your workplace and create a healthier workday!
